Data minimisation
Vehicle data can be highly sensitive.
Photos, plates and receipts can reveal a lot about you and your daily life. We reduce the data we store and give you a choice about what to share in the first place.
What we reduce
Smaller profile images
New profile images are reduced to your chosen 256 × 256 pixel crop, up to 100 KB. We only store the processed version. Replacing or removing an image also removes old profile image copies from contributions.
Less hidden image data
New profile, vehicle and damage photos are re-encoded to remove embedded location and camera metadata and thumbnails. Vehicle and damage photos are also resized.
Data you can remove
You can delete uploaded images and receipts. A six-month deletion period generally applies after your subscription actually ends. We email you beforehand and offer to continue your subscription. The privacy policy explains the details and exceptions.
Be less identifiable
You can leave out or hide identifying details:
- You can use a pseudonym as your display name. We still need your email address for sign-in; billing or contracts may require accurate personal details.
- A profile image and a private car photo are optional. You can enter expenses manually without any photos or receipts.
- Upload a car photo without a visible plate, or hide it with our image editor. Image inspection is required for published vehicle reports.
This makes you less identifiable, but not automatically anonymous. Also check for people, addresses and personal details in photos or text.
Read receipts and insurance details or store documents
Extract details only
Optional AI extraction processes the file or pasted text temporarily. You can copy relevant text, for example from Preview, and remove personal details before submitting. Without optional storage, we retain neither the receipt file nor the complete AI response. Only when you save the expense or insurance profile do we store the details you have confirmed.
Choose to keep a copy
“Also store file in the project” lets you keep receipts as documents, with or without AI. The option starts unchecked. Project members can view, download and delete stored receipts.
AI receipt extraction and AI plate detection are optional. The selected file or pasted text is sent to Google Gemini only after your active confirmation. You can enter expenses and mark plates manually without AI.
Protected in transit
HTTPS with TLS encrypts the connection between your browser and our website. This also protects images and receipts in transit when you upload or retrieve them.
